Join Sarah Bild, Montreal choreographer/performer and certified Action Theater™ instructor, for a workshop in the approach honouring all aspects of our expression: body, voice and words.

Workshop | Stimulating the Imagination through Action Theater
A three-hour workshop exploring Action Theater™ a unique form of embodied improvisational theatre developed by American performance artist Ruth Zaporah. This session will introduce the fundamentals of the practice. Through playful and rigorous exercises, which isolate and recombine movement, sound and language, we broaden our range of improvisational skills in order to become open and creative in the present moment. Working in solos, duets, trios and also as an ensemble, we bring attention to the details of our physical choices, to the quality and range of our vocalizing. We approach speech and words as physical actions in building narratives.

This workshop is open to all artists with previous movement experience and/or body practice.

Tuesday, October 11

Muriel Taylor Studio at Ruth Carse Centre for Dance (11205-107 Ave in Edmonton)

Cost: $20 Drop-In / $15 CADA Members
No Registration required. It’s first come, first served.

About Sarah Bild
Montreal choreographer/performer Sarah Bild follows an intuitive stream of physical imagery to create deeply textured and organic works of dance. Her visually impressive solo and group works, presented for the last 25 years in venues and festivals across Canada, raise questions about the human presence on this planet.

Plus Vrai, Sarah Bild’s latest work produced by Danse-Cité in the fall of 2013, was widely appreciated for its compositional intricacy and artistic maturity.

In the fall of 2015, Sarah Bild embarked on the 50+ project, which addresses the representation of the aging female body on stage. This work has brought her investigations inward to reclaiming her own body through performance.

In 2009, Sarah Bild became the first improviser certified to teach Action Theater™ in Quebec. She is part of the faculty at l’École de danse contemporaine de Montréal and is invited to teach and choreograph in many training programs across Canada.
