Good Women Dance Collective’s Convergence
November 14, 15, 16th, 2019. 7:15pm
Théâtre de la Cité – 8627 rue Marie-Anne Gaboury
For Convergence 2019, GWDC returns to a double bill format. The show will include the world premiere of a new piece commissioned for GWDC from Pamela Tzeng (Calgary), as well as Ruminate, a duet work by Meredith Kalaman (Vancouver). Tzeng’s work holds space for the meanings, privileges and the shame that the collective’s bodies carry, exploring what is seen and unseen in the absence of otherness. Ruminate, by Kalaman, is inspired by the “necking process” where giraffes violently thrash their necks at each other in combat. This duet “chews over” the desire to dominate another being by means of physical force juxtaposed with the need for tender care.
We are seeking volunteers to assist with various front of house tasks during this event. All volunteers will receive a complimentary ticket to the performance.
