Sustain Release is a class that looks at different modes of working with continuous movement as a method for moving outside of the known, and into uncharted terrain. We will bounce, meditate to techno, move and talk non-stop, and possibly do some unusual partnering. Drawing from the work of Jeanine Durning, Doris Uhlich and Andrew Tay this workshop hopes to provide some joy or at least release in unstable times.

Sasha Kleinplatz is a choreographer, teacher and curator based in Tio’tia:ke. She thinks a lot about why we dance, how to breathe and what to eat next. She is the co-creator of Piss in the Pool, Short&Sweet and Lots of Love, all dance events that aim to both challenge and support makers in moving outside their comfort zones with the support of an engaged, informed audience. Her work has been presented in Canada and the United States. She is currently in the early stages of a PhD looking at knowledge transmission and recuperation in choreographic process.
