We are excited to announce that Calgary-based dance artist Jason Owin F. Galeos will be teaching GW Company Classes
January 22, 24, and 25 from 10:00am-11:30am
in the Muriel Taylor Studio at the Ruth Carse Centre for Dance (11205 107 Avenue).
The class will turn around one or two themes per day including warm up, floorwork in the space. From smearing extremities to syncing forms, where energy and the imaginary are the rulers of the rhythm. The participants are encouraged to get in and out of the floor in the shortest delay of time. Each day will be something different so expect a variation of warm ups, release, tools, vocabulary, and repertoire.
Born in Norway, Jason Owin F. Galeos is a dance artist based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. His dance studies are based on Hip Hop, House, Funk Styles and Contemporary Dance. He has danced for Tara Wilson, Saxon Fraser, Melissa Monteros, Deanne Walsh, Wojciech Mochniej, Michele Moss, Pamela Tzeng, Zahra Shahab and Sylvie Moquin. Since 2007, he’s been recognized in the community for his unique movement and cross genre approach. In 2012, He earned his BA at the University of Calgary, Majoring in Contemporary Dance. In 2015, Galeos started J-SIK Movements: the spontaneity and immersion in hip-hop culture and the choreographic maturity of contemporary dance, where he evolved as a professional dancer. In 2017, Galeos co-produce his very first production in collaboration with Purposely SoulFul “Fall of the Leaf | Høsten Bladet”. In 2018, he collaborated with Ember Dance Company, presented “Die Münze (The Coin)” provided by Springboard Performance and Good Women Dance Collective and most recently “Les Journalier Extrait 2 (The Journeyman Excerpt 2)” as part of the University of Calgary 49th Annual Dance Montage. Galeos continues to further his career internationally and currently resides in Calgary as an Apprentice Dancer for Decidedly Jazz Danceworks.
