The artists of Good Women Dance Collective (GWDC) are off to Montréal to collaborate with the Artistic Director of MAYDAY Danse, Mélanie Demers. During the August 2015 residency, Demers will create a new 30-minute work on GWDC artists Ainsley Hillyard, Alison Kause, Alida Nyquist-Schultz and Kate Stashko, as well as long-time GWDC collaborator Richard Lee.
The Montréal residency begins this week. It will last three weeks and will include research and creation involving the GWDC artists, Lee and Demers. The final phase will be in November when Demers will come to Edmonton for rehearsals and the world premiere of the work. The new dance piece will debut at Convergence 2015, GWDC’s annual showcase of inspiring, athletic, and thoughtful contemporary dance by Edmonton’s up-and-coming artists on November 26-28, 2015.
