Last month, Good Women and FEMME Vocal Quartet had to make the difficult but necessary decision to postpone the world premiere of The Beginning of Happiness, composed by Edmonton’s Jane Berry and presented in partnership with WIN house, with hopes of rescheduling in Fall 2020.
Although we all have a responsibility to practice physical distancing, an important and critical part in lessening the spread of Covid-19, the postponement of these upcoming performances has had a significant impact on the livelihoods of our artists and crew — which is why we launched The Beginning of Happiness postponement relief fund.
First and foremost, we want to say how grateful we are for the community support we have received over the last two weeks. Thank you to everyone who has donated to our relief fund thus far! Because of your generosity, we have raised $1,105, but we still have a ways to go if we are to reach our end goal of $5,000.
If you are able, please consider making a donation. Any amount is greatly appreciated and will go directly towards:
- Offsetting lost wages for our artists and crew
- Paying for additional rehearsal hours and studio space
- Covering funds lost to venue bookings
- Updating marketing materials
You can also show your support by sharing The Beginning of Happiness postponement relief fund with your network and following GWDC and FEMME on social media. #weareinthistogether
