Good Women is welcoming our winter scholarship recipient Kristen Farmer! We are very excited to have Kristin join us for our company classes during January-April 2020. Here is a bit more about Kristen:
Since a young age, Kristen has trained in multiple disciplines of dance, including ballet, contemporary, jazz, and tap. She trained at Power House Dance beginning in 2013 under the direction of Helen MacDonald, and was fortunate to have been taught by an esteemed faculty, including Laurence Menotti and Gail Ledger. From 2016 till 2019, she was a part of the studio’s elite team, a competitive group of select dancers who got the opportunity to work with guest choreographers and compete across North America. Through the program, Kristen was able to work with Sarah Dolan on solo routines, as well as participate in group numbers choreographed by Dolan, Joey Matt, Julio Fuentes, and Brock Jellison to name a few. When Kristen was fifteen, she began receiving instruction from Katherine Semchuk in the disciplines of lyrical and contemporary. It was with her guidance and influence Kristen discovered her passion for contemporary dance, which she hopes to expand on in the years to come. Kristen had a successful competitive career, receiving scholarships and company placement awards, and placing high in overall soloist categories..
A recent high school graduate, Kristen will begin her post secondary education at the University of Alberta in the Bachelor of Arts program in the fall of 2019. Kristen is beyond excited to train with Good Women in the winter of 2020 in an environment she believes will foster her growth as a young dancer and artist.
